27th Street (CR 609) Roadway Reconstruction Receives Honor Award – Small Project
RVE is pleased to have received an Honor Award for our work on this project for the County of Camden, NJ. RVE was retained by the County of Camden to provide construction management and inspection services for the reconstruction of the roadway along 27th Street (CR 609), from Marlton Pike (CR 601) to Federal Street (CR 537) in Camden City, NJ. Improvements included the reconstruction of 27th Street, inclusive of a southbound widening of the roadway to maintain two-way travel and provide a parking lane along the south side of the roadway. The project also included the replacement of sidewalk, curb and curb ramps, upgrades of the traffic and pedestrian signals at the intersection of 27th Street and Berkley Street, streetscaping along the northbound side of the roadway, drainage upgrades and traffic signing and striping upgrades. RVE provided full-time onsite inspection throughout the duration of construction.
The reconstruction of 27th Street was a significant project for Camden County and the City of Camden, specifically the community of East Camden, as it serves as a key thoroughfare. RVE maintained a consistent line of contact with the Contractor, utility companies and officials from the County and the City of Camden to facilitate a smooth construction process with minimal disruption to residents and business owners. The project was completed on schedule and under budget. In addition to providing much-needed infrastructure improvements, the project holds a significance to the City of Camden, as it was dedicated to Mike Rozier, a former NFL player and Heisman Trophy winner, who grew up in the area.
