Karen Jehanian Named WTS Philadelphia Woman of the Year

Congratulations to Karen Jehanian, PE, EMBA for being selected Woman of the Year by the Philadelphia Chapter of Women's Transportation Seminar (WTS). This recognition highlights Karen’s significant contributions to the transportation industry and the positive impact she has had on both colleagues and projects in the Philadelphia area.

Karen built a distinguished career in transportation consulting, defined by more than four decades of collaborative, compassionate leadership. Her entrepreneurial spirit, combined with perseverance and intellectual curiosity, shaped a career dedicated to solving complex challenges and improving communities.

“I am deeply honored to receive this award and to join a group of women committed to the transportation industry and to each other,” said Karen. “I am certain that my eleven-year-old self is cheering that I persevered, lived a principled life, maintained my integrity and helped others to the best of my ability.”

In 1998, Karen founded KMJ Consulting, Inc. with the goal of creating a people-centered, innovative work culture that fostered professional growth and delivered meaningful impact. Under her leadership, the KMJ team became a trusted partner for PennDOT, the City of Philadelphia and regional planning agencies and earned a reputation for innovation, collaboration and technical excellence. The 30th Street District Plan, Spring Garden Corridor study and American Street project are among many of KMJ’s transformative contributions to the Philadelphia area.

In 2025, after 26 years as KMJ’s president, Karen guided the firm through its acquisition by RVE. As Regional Director, she continues to share her expertise and passion for service, bringing her hallmark integrity, empathy and commitment to empowerment to a broader platform. Karen remains a staunch advocate for diversity in the industry and acts as a mentor to students and professionals through WTS, Drexel University and other outreach programs.
