Project Highlight: Resurfacing and Safety Improvements to Blackwood-Barnsboro Road (CR603)

RVE is providing construction management and construction inspection services for the Resurfacing and Safety Improvements to Blackwood-Barnsboro Road (CR603) in the Townships of Washington and Deptford. The work includes milling and paving of Blackwood-Barnsboro Road, as well as a portion of realignment of the roadway. Concrete curb ramps were replaced to meet current ADA standards and new concrete sidewalk and curb was installed. Stormwater system upgrades took place on Blackwood-Barnboro Road. Long life traffic stripes and raised pavement markers will be installed on the new pavement surface, as well as new signage along the roadway. The existing steel beam guide rail was upgraded, and end treatments were replaced with current crashworthy end sections.

Unique to this project, was the installation of traffic signals and culvert repairs on Blackwood-Barnsboro Road. New traffic signals were installed on Blackwood-Barnsboro Road at intersections with Mt. Pleasant Road and Egg Harbor Road (CR 632). The signal at the intersection with Woodbury-Turnersville Road (CR 621) was upgraded. The construction included all traffic signal and roadway related work to operate the signals. Two culverts required repair on Blackwood-Barnsboro Road. A 48” diameter culvert on the roadway required culvert headwall repairs and 102” diameter culvert required internal pipe repairs. Pipe lining and video taping of the existing storm sewer system was required as part of the project also. This project is expected to be completed early this year.
