Springdale Road (CR 673) Roadway Improvements – Phase I & II

About The Project

RVE provided professional engineering and design services for multi-modal roadway improvements. Improvements included pedestrian and bicycle safety enhancements along Springdale Road in Cherry Hill Township. Springdale Road is a vital roadway in the interconnection of the Camden County Road network as it connects Route 70 to Evesham Road (CR 544), White Horse Road (CR 673), and Haddonfield-Berlin Road (CR 561). The roadway was causing confusion to drivers and was not safe due to inconsistent cross-section grades and horizontal alignment. The approximate length of the Phase I & II project limits was 1.5 miles. The scope of work included curb improvements, horizontal and vertical roadway realignment, sidewalk installation (along the west side of the roadway), bicycle lanes, traffic signal modifications, fire department flashing warning beacons, signage and pavement markings, pavement reconstruction/resurfacing, safety upgrades, utility relocation, pedestrian accessibility improvements, multi-modal roadway improvements, NJDEP freshwater wetlands permit application and stormwater and sanitary sewer inspections, analysis and design. Pedestrian, ADA and traffic signal improvements were made to pedestrian facilities along Springdale Road as needed per the County’s design alternative selection.

Safety was greatly improved along this corridor due to this project.

The project not only included capacity improvements, but also provided the basis for much- needed pedestrian accessibility in addition to multi-modal and safety improvements to the surrounding area.

Phase II was federally funded
