Dodson, a division of RVE, provided mechanical engineering services for the design of the mechanical systems of the 95-year-old, 240,188 square foot building. The 14-story structure was formerly the Fulton Building, an office building located in the heart of Pittsburgh’s revived cultural district. The mechanical systems were carefully integrated into the historical building fabric. All of the historical aspects of the building were carefully restored, and the design team worked to accomplish the goals of the Owner/Developer to renovate the dilapidated office building, whose main tenant was a popular dance club, with requirements set forth by the US Department of the Interior guidelines for historic renovation. The age and condition of the building required replacement of all the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems. Significant upgrades to Fire / Life Safety Systems were also necessary to bring the building into code compliance.
Innovate design techniques were used to carefully integrate a new mechanical system into the historical building fabric.
