RVE provided engineering and landscape architecture services for the design and construction of a new water spray park at Columbus Park in the City of Hoboken. Spray park amenities also included fencing, benches and landscaping improvements. RVE performed a topographic survey of the site and the design of the new spray park to develop a preliminary site plan. The site plan laid out the new spray area and utility building in relation to the existing restrooms and tennis courts. The site plan included the installation of an in-ground water spray head system with LED lighting built into the spray head, an activation bollard, decorative LED site lighting, landscaping, a pavement pattern and a precast mask to spit water and mist. Once the schematic layout was approved, RVE prepared a conceptual landscape and lighting plan. RVE provided construction inspection and contract administration services during the construction phase of the project. Construction administration duties included preparing and attending preconstruction meeting with the County and the Contractor; reviewing low bidder references; reviewing and approving shop drawings; reviewing and recommending Contractor applications for payment; reviewing and recommending Contractor change order requests; and performing final walk through and preparing final punch list.
The County wanted to convert an asphalt volley ball court into the spray park facility for children of various age ranges to enjoy.
RVE conducted meetings with the County to discuss issues with design, landscape architecture, engineering and construction.
RVE Coordinated the water company, North Hudson Sewerage Authority, PSE&G and any other utilities required for confirmation of existing service and capacity and for the potential increase in service to support the new spray system.
