RVE provided environmental engineering services to the City of Wildwood to secure New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Bureau of Solid Waste Permitting Approval for a Sanitary Landfill Closure and Post-Closure Care Plan under the provisions of N.J.S.A. 13:1E-1 et seq. known as the Solid Waste Management Act. RVE performed wetland delineation, land surveying, permit application preparation for NJDEP Department of Land Use Regulation, groundwater sampling, sediment sampling, landfill gas monitoring, and surface water sampling. Through RVE’s close coordination with the NJDEP Bureau of Solid Waste Permitting, a permit inventory was prepared in the later project stages, highlighting additional regulatory approvals needed beyond the NJDEP Solid Waste Approval. The Closure and Post-Closure Care Plan was modified and expanded multiple times, in response to NJDEP reviewer requests. Provisions for requesting and securing access agreements to retrieve buried municipal solid waste from adjacent, offsite properties were required to be included in the Closure Plan. Ultimately, the April 2019 Approval was issued following the August 2019 Modification, which involved RVE sediment sampling and surface water sampling from the adjacent Post Creek Basin, which demonstrated that elevated concentrations of metals in groundwater at the property had not resulted in impacts to Post Creek Basin.
The Closure and Post-Closure Care Plan was modified and expanded multiple times, in response to NJDEP reviewer requests.
Closure Plan Approval was secured through RVE’s close coordination and meetings with the NJDEP Bureau of Solid Waste Permitting and the City of Wildwood.
All wetland delineation, land surveying, NJDEP Land Use Regulation permit application preparation, groundwater sampling, sediment sampling, landfill gas screening, and surface water sampling services were performed by RVE’s inhouse staff.
