RVE provided construction inspection services for the Bridge Beam Replacement Project, which included the replacement of accident damaged fascia girders at Structures Nos. 6.6S and 154.2N on the Garden State Parkway (GSP). The project involved implementation of lane shifts and/or traffic detours; nightly lane closings; selective replacement of deck panels; partial depth concrete spall repairs; curb surface repairs with provisions for temporary electrical service; parapet replacement including new electrical conduits and service; removal and replacement of existing asphalt wearing surface with a new membrane/asphalt system; high performance concrete in deck and parapet, structural steel repairs; substructure repairs; laminated elastomeric bearings; emergency and routine repairs under cost plus compensation; and other incidental work. Work required installation of concrete construction barrier and other incidental work on the GSP at each structure. RVE’s inspection services included checking that all work was completed in compliance with the contract plans and specifications, inspection of all construction materials used at the site to ensure compliance with the contract plans and specifications, obtaining certifications of all manufactured materials, maintaining as-built information and plans and all such other services as may be required to furnish a complete engineering service of high quality.
RVE established a means of coordinating and reporting its activities with the Authority’s Project Engineer to ensure an expeditious exchange of information.
Various regional agencies and railroads are affected by this project and are kept informed as to the status of this project
RVE is coordinating construction activities with outside agencies as well as reviewing and determining all necessary project requirements as indicated in the contract documents.
