RVE provided engineering, design and permitting services for the complete replacement of U.G. Bridge No. 23.39 on the Salem Branch Railroad over Oldmans Creek, Pilesgove Township, Salem County, NJ. We were also selected to provide construction management and inspection services for this project. RVE performed a topographical, route and construction control surveys utilizing conventional ground survey techniques and a Geotechnical Soils Program for proper design of the bridge’s substructure and foundation support. RVE prepared preliminary documents for the new bridge to provide ease of construction consistent with the limited allowable closings, all necessary documents for outside agency permits, prepared a Categorical Exclusion Document (CED) to secure United States Maritime Administration (MARAD) funding, coordinated with the railroad to limit the closure of the bridge duration for construction and coordinated with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), MARAD, and TRIAD to secure the funding for the new bridge. Final construction documents were prepared in accordance with American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) and Salem County requirements for the bridge replacement. Construction management and on-site inspection services were also provided.
