Townsend’s Inlet Bridge opened in time for the rest of the summer season! RVE provided construction management/inspection services on this bridge which connects Sea Isle City and Avalon and is a link for traffic flow along the Ocean Drive causeway.
The 1,373-foot span closed in September, after last summer season, so that repairs could be made to railings after an underwater inspection of bridge pilings found structural damage.
RVE’s drone tracked the progress of the project over the course of the last few months
and its completion
The reopening of the bridge will help remedy traffic caused by people taking alternate routes to the beach cities in the time since the closure began.
“The Bridge Commission and Freeholders, in appreciation of the community’s patience during the construction of the Townsends Inlet Bridge, have decided to have the bridge toll-free for the weekend,” Bridge Commission Chairman Carol Brand said.
